Commission a portrait
Emily’s exquisite portraits are constructed from pieces of coloured silk organza sewn together with tiny meticulous stitches placed one at a time to capture the person’s likeness. This is really sensitive work.
Drawing on the tradition of portrait painting, imagining the person is sitting in front of her whilst she stitches, Emily likes to work from a photograph in which the person has a still expression, this adds to the quiet gentleness of the work for which Emily is known.
